Aloha Parents!

This year, out 6th graders will be embarking on the learning adventure that is middle school and the IB MYP program.  Much like our PYP program taught our students to be inquisitive, the MYP Design course takes that to the next step by teaching them how to begin solving the problems they find in their community and environment.

Our first design challenge of the year will present us with a brief introduction to the Design Cycle before we get off and running into our much larger and longer units of the year.  We're using the Mars Rover Curiosity as a spring board to help students design and construct a prototype of a self propelled vehicle.  Over the next few days, the students will be collecting a few recycled or consumable every day items to be used as building materials (cardboard, water bottle tops or pencils.)

I look forward to seeing all of you at our MS Parent Nigh that will be on September  12th, 2014 (at 5:30 p.m.)  Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.

Mahalo!
